Humanity is constantly moving from the origin of time, and the sense of belonging is sometimes lost along the way. This theme motivates Tania’s work which explores identity as a fluid concept, from one culture to another, from one ethnicity to another, from one place to another, from one language to another, from one story to what remains in the memory. In this attempt to define herself, Tania focuses on portraits, masking faces, layering one brush stroke after another, coloured and faded characters. The main figure is always feminine disrupted with textile patterns and flower motifs. She’s inspired by the multiple personalities that women assume in tales from our civilization and tries to understand these roles from her perspective. She usually uses traditional procedures, such as painting and other analogical photography techniques, mixing them with the influence of Pictorialism.
