Analysis of Novel Entities // Phase_01, 2026
Vellum, animated render, foliage, rubble
This installation examines hypothetical species as a way to think about habitat, taxonomy, and the emergent metaphysical field of place. These entities are a sum of other creatures & their environments. They are a link between earthly things, filtered through a mythological lens and rendered otherworldly. They are mutations, forged from symbiosis with living things and the engineered, questioning where the line is between ‘natural’ and ‘man-made’. By thinking of consciousness as a physical field that emerges from neurons, what metaphysical field could emerge from the elements of a place, an ecosystem? Building these entities by remixing existing zoological and botanical characteristics is a way to better understand the living organisms we share this planet with. The entities are presented within a confined environment, their anatomy dissected and labeled, their origin speculative and the mysticism intensified by their analysis, rather than offering any tangible truth.
