The Lava Twins slowly criss-crossing the Ash pool, 2026

LaTorre’s video situates exaggerated morphologies within simulacral landscapes, digital hallucinations without referent. Geological processes ordinarily spanning millennia (sedimentation, hardening, erosion, liquefaction) are compressed into seconds and imposed on forms unable to consent to them. Swelling and calcifying beyond anatomical limits, these bodies remain subservient to the rules of networked circulation; their changes read less as evolution than as formatting. A textual voice asserts permanence from the content layer, while the body is rewritten at the level of protocol. Looping without resolution, the work produces a deep time that is compressed, simulated, and recurrent.
