Adrien Iz Nettere is interested in what arises in the space between things and their phenomenal counterparts, or fiction between a thing and its image. Attentive to the gap between sign and meaning, Nettere’s work illuminates the encounters that happen in this space, developing a devotional orientation towards distance by way of image, surface, and container. His image-object constructions are made using translucent porcelain, underglaze decals, and light. Nettere views the work through recurring silhouettes and scaffolds, exteriorities protective of a subject that remains in motion.
