Nick Chiado is a sculptor from the United States. Originally from Seattle, Washington, he received his BFA from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago in 2021. Nick’s practice investigates sculpture and its implications as physical material infiltrating our increasingly non-three-dimensional reality. Inspired by the rich history of sculpture, Nick works within a wide range of materials, processes, and experiences, to explore the expressive nature of certain materials and how they react to mismanagement.
In this body of work, Nick has created wall hanging constructions consisting of hand bent aluminium material commonly found in hardware stores. These works project outwards off the wall and into space, counterbalancing themselves with the assistance of their form with each type of stock performing in a particular manner.
