This week in GlogauAir’s showcase we are presenting work ‘Stolen Stills’ by resident artist Pilar Ramo.
The work of Pilar Ramo, Spanish filmmaker, explores the representation of physical, human, and emotional peripheries through digital video. From an audiovisual language, typical of documentary-essay, the artist moves away from artifice in the image to focus on observation and contrast.
For the showcase Stolen stills, the artist has selected stills of video recordings that allow her to detect in the flow of anonymous lives in the city. From the view of a voyeur, faces, figures and spaces are recorded with two questions in mind: Where is Berlin? Who is Berlin? These captured sequences reveal to us the gazes, gestures, rhythms and movements of a city from the subjectivity of their human figures and spaces; far from the traditional representation of the German capital.
Pilar Ramo will be presenting her work at GlogauAIR ´s Open Studios on June 21 and 22, 2019.
