Statement

Through a variety of media my work explores the tensions between fiction and reality, memory, trauma and identity. Rather than shedding light to it, I seek to explore the dark spaces that coexist between the intimate and public spheres, addressing themes of love, loss, femininity and violence.

While my artistic trajectory may appear erratic, a consistent thread weaves through each series of works. Memory serves as both a foundation and a catalyst for this process, using its fluid nature to distort, embellish, or even fabricate events in a complex personal and political context.

Within my artistic practice, I aim to create visual narratives reflective of shared human experiences and foster a dialogue between memory and identity, the individual and the collective, allowing for new possibilities and perspectives to emerge in an unsettling, forever shifting landscape.

GlogauAIR Project

Dinner Table – Installation proposing a visual and conceptual exploration of the intersections between the domestic, the anatomical, and the medical, presenting a meticulously arranged dining table with objects made of porcelain glazed with platinum. This configuration will simulate a set table, where everyday objects and medical devices coexist in the form of non-functional utensils with mirrored surfaces.

The installation will feature a mixture of household utensils (plates, cutlery, glasses), gynecological instruments (forceps, vaginal speculum, scissors, uterine dilator), and anatomical parts (female pelvic bone and hands), aiming to imbue both familiarity and strangeness to the scene.

The platinum will give the objects a mirrored effect, creating distorted reflections on the concave and convex surfaces of the various utensils that exceed the bounds of familiarity. The chosen material will also place all objects on the same plane; now all subject to the fragility of porcelain, deactivating the power dynamics and functionality once present in their original materiality.

The work to be carried out will be integrated into the project ‘I LOOKED AWAY’, initiated during my artistic residency in the VIR program (Viafarini-in-residence, Milan, Italy) in 2023. The series aims to construct a nuanced trauma archive, interweaving memory and identity within a fragmented narrative.
