I’m developing a sonic installation exploring how sound reveals the body’s invisible worlds. Through listening, sound becomes a way to access our internal worlds: tissues, cells, genetic myths and the felt unknown. I am investigating somatic cells through interactive sound, vibration, and field recordings. I will be composing seven sonic portraits, each echoing a different cellular world within my body. Cells form our tissues and barriers, yet remain unheard, unfelt; how might a skin cell sound compared to a cancer cell? I will build an interactive membrane with seven layers, each holding its own sonic landscape. Together, they will form a cellular “small room.” Viewers will be invited to meet the membrane and begin to explore their own interior worlds. An accompanying EP of the sonic portraits will be released to carry on the biological conversations beyond the installation.
