Maria lives and works in Lisbon. She holds a Master’s degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, where she also completed her Bachelor’s degree in Painting. During her studies, she participated in the Erasmus programme at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts de Paris-Cergy, in France.
Since 2021, Maria has exhibited both collectively and individually in Portugal and internationally. Her exhibitions and projects include:
In 2026, she participated in 10 out of 10, at the PLMJ Foundation Gallery (PT); O Banquete (1) and MY MIND IS NOT A CAGE, at NAVE Gallery (PT); and was selected for the Glogauair Residency in Berlin, with the support of Camões Berlim and the PLMJ Foundation.
In 2025, she presented the solo exhibition Equação Pessoal at the National Museum of Natural History and Science in Lisbon. She also participated in Vanishing Act at Studio/Chapple Gallery in London; Prémio Arte Jovem 2025 – Millennium BCP at P31 – Centro Hospitalar Psiquiátrico de Lisboa (PT); Edge is Virtue at Dialogue Gallery (PT); and Holbein Syndrome at Galeria Francisco Fino (PT).
In 2024, she participated in Force Majeure at Galeria Francisco Fino (PT); CACTO-ORQUÍDEA at Factory Lisbon; and Highly Confusing Times at Arbag, Lisbon.
In 2023, she participated in Taking The Light Out of The Prism at the Oficinas Gerais de Fardamento e Equipamento do Exército, Lisbon; Encontros Imediatos de Segundo Grau at the Lisbon Municipal Galleries; Alcazarat Alfaia, Loulé (PT); Quem põe o som na boca do pisco? at Fundação Dom Luís I – Centro Cultural de Cascais (PT); Marathon des écoles at the Centre national de la danse, Paris (FR); O jardim dos caminhos que se bifurcam at Buraco, Lisbon; and Spike to Spica at Galeria Monumental, Lisbon.
In 2022, she participated in Caring is Sharing at CabanaMad and Depois do Banquete at Teatro Thalia, Lisbon.
In 2021, she participated in Trauma Response at Duplex Air (PT); Sonhos de Guerra e Paz at the Military Museum of Lisbon; and Alunos da FBAUL na Ermida – Prémio de Pintura at Travessa da Ermida, Lisbon.
Throughout her career, Maria has received the Prémio Arte Jovem 2025 – Millennium BCP, the Painting Prize of the 2nd edition of Alunos da FBAUL na Ermida, and was awarded the Glogauair Residency through Galeria NAVE with the support of Camões Berlim and the PLMJ Foundation.
