Statement

My work is an ode to the inspiration our species has felt for centuries while observing the landscapes, discovering materials and watching minerals turn to glass. I create my pieces by hand, slowly, in an attempt to find and communicate a sense of awe for our world, while investigating connections between materials, times and spaces and investigate my own relationship with the world around me. My projects engage the senses and often combine unusual materials, such as metal and porcelain.

GlogauAIR Project

In the past year, I have been integrating metal into ethereal white porcelain vases, exploring the theme of cages/ shields in interpersonal relationships. For my residency with GlogauAIR, I intend to continue my exploration of the relationship between materials and make a series of small porcelain panels/objects that will then be glazed and subsequently covered with copper via the process of electroforming, which I have been using on some experimental vases.

The pieces will continue my exploration of transition and transformation, relationships and evolution.
