Statement

Hailing from Barcelona, Iñaki is a multidisciplinary artist who draws inspiration from processes of transformation and the influence of memories on people and spaces. He employs painting, sculpture and tattooing in such a way that he cannot fully control the end result, allowing the materials or individuals involved in the process to influence the outcome. Most of his work consists of large-format tattoos on other people’s skin. His approach to a project may be premeditated or spontaneous, but it always involves conversation and establishing the right atmosphere. Throughout these processes, he carefully explores the limits of each technique, using them to enrich his work.

Profile

GlogauAIR Project

During my residency at GlogauAIR, I intend to continue my research into modifying the influence of memory and questioning the link between memory and emotion.

Recently, I have been using drawings as models for ceramics, and vice versa. I am interested in alternating between two- and three-dimensional techniques to generate conversations between different forms of expression and seek new perspectives that distort the original concept of the work. This time, I plan to use photographs taken in Berlin as initial models and explore how the light in this city can influence my reference models.

Master’s degree in Graphic Art from the Joso School in Barcelona (2006–2010).
