At a distance, Corridore’s crochet tapestries conjure imagery typically associated with an essentialised vision of femininity. Upon closer inspection their materiality is harsh –copper, steel and iron binding wire unveils a reality of intensive labour; however, the true extent of the labour demand can only be speculated. Drawing into frame the distinction between recorded hours of waged labour as opposed to domestic labour where hours fuse into one never-ending shift.

The roughness of the materials attempts to challenge notions of domestic labour as a ‘labour of love’; the most naturalistic vocation of women. Rather, in calling to the theories of Silvia Federici, suggests it is a relation of labour as essential to the reproduction of capital as waged labour.
