Printed wallpaper, suspended jigsaw puzzle pieces, real brussel sprouts in a gold bowl.

185 cm × 85 cm × 35 cm

This work examines the tension between surface, desire, the real and the synthetic.
Using the image of a brussel sprout — a food item often marketed as either aesthetic lifestyle or childhood trauma — the installation points to the absurdity of image culture and the promise of visual satisfaction. The repetition of the image becomes wallpaper; its complexity becomes frustration. The puzzle is unfinished, the pieces suspended, the sprouts themselves degrading in real time.

The work reflects a preoccupation with photography as a seductive instrument of capitalism — an agent that flattens and idealises. Here, that surface logic breaks down. What is presented as consumable becomes unpalatable. The perfect image resists completion. The organic refuses stasis.

By staging the incomplete and the rotting, the installation points to a failed fantasy — one where beauty, order, and consumption are undermined by the difficulty of the real. Photography’s ability to sell, elevate, and conceal is tested against something that simply falls apart.
