My project is based on the historical tradition that unites Chile and Germany. My art creates new cultural links through the intermingling of fabrics from one place to the other, enhancing their relationship. Although they are very different countries with great distance between them, they have always had a special relationship, which has only intensified throughout the 20th century.

I created textile works which intertwine through a fraying technique. This reflects on the concept of breaking borders and collective strength. The overarching metaphor in my work is two birds coming together. The eagle on the German coat of arms and the condor on the Chilean coat of arms. This is a reference to the legend “The eagle and the condor: A prophecy for our times”. This is not just a legend, but rather a look into our past, ourselves and our future.
