Alter-ations, 2024
Metal, wood, acrylic paint and tape 76 cm x 170 cm
This work continues Farhat’s exploration of the interplay between materiality and meaning, drawing inspiration from the urban landscapes that shape our shared experiences. Utilizing found objects that are transformed through traditional metalworking techniques, the piece bridges between sculpture and installation.
Emerging organically from materials gathered in her surroundings, this modular artwork invites viewers to engage actively with its composition. Designed to be rearranged and reinterpreted, it reflects on individuality as an evolving concept, offering the audience the freedom to personalize, transform, or reject the structures before them.
Each element functions as an altar of identity, revealing both universal and personal connections. By decontextualising urban fragments and reimagining their presence, Farhat’s work highlights adaptability, encouraging a dialogue between object, space, and observer.
