Net (Lili, Moksha, Marina, Java, Maria, Cristina e Clara), 2025
Human hair, thread and fabric
Variable dimensions
This evolving installation is constructed from tied and sewn strands of hair collected from the artist’s close relations—her mother, sister, friends, and other family members—including her own. The delicate, interwoven net serves as a tangible web of connection, fragility, and intimacy, exploring themes of identity, lineage, and the invisible bonds that tie us together.
As an ongoing work, the piece will grow throughout the years, with new strands added as a living archive of relationships. Hair, both a personal relic and a universal material, carries memory and cultural significance; here, it becomes a medium for mapping kinship and the passage of time. The repetitive acts of tying and sewing mirror the labor of care and maintenance inherent in human connections, while the net’s translucent form suggests both resilience and vulnerability.
