AIR FORCE, 2025

Air Force is a photograph of a sculpture made from coal extracted in southern Chile. The piece alludes both to the consumption of raw materials and to the circulation of everyday consumer goods, in this case a branded sneaker. In both contexts—the exploitation of coal and the production of footwear—cheap labor is employed, perpetuating precarious working conditions in the Global South. The work thus invites reflection on the extractivist dynamics that connect the Global North and the Global South, a hierarchical relationship that continues to shape the world’s socio-economic structure.
