With a background in psychoanalysis, I am interested in mapping desire as it is manifested within an urban context. Lacanians contend that desire cannot be satisfied, as the object and cause of desire is an unobtainable object, the objet petit a, which the subject continually associates with different things that they wrongly believe will satisfy their desire. In this work I am seeking to explore both creative and destructive manifestations of this desire within a Berlin-inspired framework, incorporating themes of addiction and spiritual solace across a reconfigured and reimagined cityscape.
