This week in GlogauAir’s showcase we are presenting work ‘Composition No.10 – FULL OF ♥ ’ by resident artist Isu Kim.
“I want to swim into my beautiful and secret place that may be a dream. And I hope you can be with me. It is really small, fragile and sometimes can be dark. Also, you might hear thunder. But it will be fine if we can kiss each other. First, I’m gonna give you one Gummy bear. Think while eating.”
In her main series of work [Composition], Isu had concentrated on finding new images consisting of components such as – line, shape, colour and material to study the relation and to create new aesthetics. Unlike the previous works which focused on the formative components on the canvas, she is currently focusing on a more specific and definite idea in the composition which she belongs to – Reality. While in Berlin, this new composition finds small and fragile things but are filled with joy and their solidarity against constant confrontation, violence and crisis between countries, genders, groups and individuals. Most of the elements in the composition are reproduced from the joys which have fallen asleep in her memory. Isu wants to make them into soldiers who save us from the all kind of violence. She hopes that this work can be dedicated to those who are struggling with conflicts and instead bring out the small and fragile unknown deep in their hearts – LOVE.
Isu Kim will be presenting her work at GlogauAIR’s Open Studios on June 21 and 22, 2019.
