Cimarrón is the title of an artistic performance by the Castellón artist Álvaro Terrones. It is a socially conscious project composed of two actions: the first is titled Inflamar con la fragancia de tu suciedad, and deals with the concept of excess and the violent rupture of a state of inhibition after a repressive period (GlogauAIR, Berlin, August 2022). The second action is entitled Gota que desliza no empapa, and deals with the concept of speed and precipitation, after a period of containment (Sala Sant Miquel, Castelló, September 2022).
The word Cimarrón refers to the domestic animal that runs away and becomes wild. The general theme of this project is the craving, the “consumption” -without control or measure- of culture, passions, or time. To this end, Cimarron deals with two symptoms typical of the state of savagery, of that drive to prey that we somatize in guilt and torment, namely: excess and speed; specifically, when they occur after a period of containment, repression and subjugation: savagery after domestication, greed after poverty, the craving for experiences after pandemic seclusion.
The artist Álvaro Terrones with this two-act performance proposes to stimulate intuition and sympathy, as well as to pose as a cause, as a force, the pacification of existence.
This activity is the result of the collaboration of the Fundación Caja Castellón with Memoria Artística de Chema Alvargonzález through GlogauAIR Art Residency Berlin, and the collaboration of the PICE program of Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) for the internationalization of Spanish culture, which promotes and facilitates the presence abroad of the Spanish creative and cultural sector.
