Hooria Sanei is a multidisciplinary artist and composer who studied Interaction Design at the University of the Arts London. Her work spans installation, photography, print, video, and sound.
She is drawn to the transformative power of art for human and non-human life, using her practice to translate and synthesize her interpretation of the world. Sanei’s work often engages with identity and memory through embodied experience, exploring different media to create non-verbal forms of communication that shape fleeting moments into shared, resonant experiences. Ambiguities and transitory states interest her more than affirmations. It is in this state of mind that she seeks bridges between materials and forms and continually tests new techniques.
Having lived across multiple cultures, she is fascinated by intersections where ideas, materials, and experiences collide. She seeks the poetic accidents that arise from these encounters, drawing inspiration from existentialism, perception, embodiment, and the philosophy of experience. Her work invites reflection and opens the possibility of seeing oneself and the world anew.
Her recent research during her residency at GlogauAIR focuses on the ecology of scent and sound, investigating the subtle interactions between sensory worlds and their impact on perception, memory, and experience.
