This is the first iteration of ang mga bagay ay nakakaramdam, a three-part exploration into site-specific generative soundscapes and visuals, created through sound walk documentations of in-between spaces in the First United Building in Escolta, Manila.

For me, these in-between spaces elicit a sense of security and uncanny comfortability of being confined in a space where one can momentarily observe the mundanity around them. By capturing the interplay of hearing and seeing within the building’s garden area, the work seeks to translate a collection of transient moments into moving textures or patterns, examining how sensory data—even from the inanimate—can evoke ‘emotional perception and embodied experience’ (Deville, 2020). As a process-based project, the medium informs the context, mimicking found objects within the space and reconstructing a sense of pagkakapa-kapa, or touching, through digital-based tools and techniques.

The physical exhibition, encompassing all three iterations, will take place in April within the same building where the project is being developed.
