Nisha Bhakoo is a British poet and editor, based in Berlin. She is working on a PhD on the Uncanny within contemporary poetry at Humboldt University. Her poems have been published in literary magazines internationally. She has also made poetry films that have been exhibited in the UK and Germany. She was an artist-in-residence at GlogauAIR in 2015. She is currently editing an anthology of gothic poems, with co-editor Charlotte Geater, for The Emma Press.

Guest Readers:

Darling Fitch is an American-born, Berlin-based writer, musician, and performance artist. Fitch recently finished the three-year durational multimedia project ‘A Stranger Sound’, and auto-ethnographic narrative of gender transition and community, and is currently working on a poetry collection.

Clare Saponia is a Berlin-based writer, poet, and linguist. She has published collections: The Oranges of Revolution (Smokestack Books, 2015) and Copyrighting War and other Business Sins (Olympia Publishers, 2011), and is currently working on her next collection. Her poetry morphs from barefaced socio-political satire to the abstract, trippy and mystical, and has featured in a range of magazines and anthologies.

About Black & White Dreams: a tender and sensual collection of transformative poetry which walks with the reader through the darkest of nights to the brightest of dawns, pausing along the way to remember sweet moments and to care for wounds which have yet to heal. Bhakoo’s words are deeply felt and inspirational, often solitary but always warm hearted, with an eye on the desert incase it should flower.

The artists Cassie Jiun Seo and Iza Buleczakos, will be drawing/painting at the launch, creating artwork inspired by the poems as they hear them.

Cassie Jiun Seo is an artist and designer based in Berlin. Her work conveys her own personal reflection of the world surrounding her.

Iza Buleczka is a fine artist and illustrator working in Berlin. She is best known for her geometric pictures of women – their everyday life, features often considered as ‘flaws’ as well as drawing on her own personal experience as a feminist and ex-model. When she doesn’t draw women, she cooks, explores Berlin on foot or by canoe, or teaches people ‘how to art’.
