This year the two months artist-in-residence program at Berlin’s Glogauair offered by PREMIO COMBAT of Livorno, Italy, went to the under 35 painter Andrea Grotto, who won this special prize with his artwork Esci fuori!.
The jurors explained that like a book in which all the characters have been omitted, the artist tries to gain a story, describing only the auxiliar elements and its symbols. The pictorial narrative genesis, already structured, needs new stories and life-giving experiences, that only a metropolis like Berlin can guarantee.
Andrea Grotto was born in Schio, Italy in 1989. In 2012 he graduated from the Fine Arts Academy of Venice, city where he still lives and works. During 2013 he was involved in group exhibitions at Fondazione Bevilacqua la Masa of Venice.
